Size:
Wingspan is 1 3/8 - 1 5/8 inches.

Similar Species:

Clouded Skipper (above)
Yehl Skipper (brownish female)

Habitat:
Wetlands, wet power lines and savannas.

Range/Abundance:
Uncommon in the coastal plain in NC and SC. Rare outside the coastal plain.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from early May until late September in two broods with a gap between broods

Larval Host Plants:
Suspected to be grasses.

Comments:
The large white spots help to make the identification of this skipper unmistakable.

Pickerelweed and Blazingstar are its favorite nectar plants.
