Habitat:
Open areas, beach dunes, disturbed areas and pine woods.

Range/Abundance:
Stray or accidental in the southern coastal areas SC and one record in southeastern VA. No records for NC and WV.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from late summer into fall in the region.

Larval Host Plants:
A wide variety of legumes.

Comments:
This blue strays northward from Florida and Georgia once in a while. The last records in the region were in Horry Co., SC and southeastern VA in fall of 2001.

This blue tends to fly low to the ground, yet can be seen nectaring high in trees.

The top photo was taken at Frontera Audubon in Weslaco, TX on December 10, 2004. The center and bottom photos were taken at the Fern Forest Nature Center in Broward Co., FL on November 12, 2001.
