Wingspan is 1 1/8 - 1 3/8 inches.

Similar Species:

Carolina Roadside-Skipper

Habitat:
Wet areas with pine near cane, roadsides with seepage, flatwoods, ditches and edges of pocosins. Likes more open sunny areas than Carolina Roadside-Skipper.

Range/Abundance:
Very uncommon to local in the coastal plain and sandhills. Very rare in the piedmont portion of its range.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from early April until mid September in three broods with gaps between broods.

Larval Host Plants:
Switch Cane Arundinaria tecta

Comments:
This species is very hard to tell from Carolina Roadside-Skipper which has darker markings than the wing color. On Reversed Roadside-Skipper the markings are lighter than the rest of the wing.

The top three photos are the same individual and were taken in the Sandhills Gamelands in Richmond Co., NC on April 22, 2003. The bottom photo was taken in Craven Co, NC on August 24, 2003.
