Size:
Wingspan is 1 1/4 - 1 11/16 inches.

Similar Species:

Dusted Skipper

Habitat:
Dunes and dredged spoil areas, weedy fields and sandy open areas.

Range/Abundance:
Very rare, only found in a few coastal sites in NC and SC in the region.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from late March until early May and from mid July until mid August in two broods.

Larval Host Plants:
Grasses including blue stems and broomsedges.

Comments:
Loammi Skipper is not easily found unless you conduct a search in the right place at the right time of year.

Some experts consider Loammi Skipper and Dusted Skipper to be the same species: others believe they are separate species. Loammi Skipper is much more heavily marked than Dusted Skipper.
