Wingspan is 1 - 1 1/4 inches.

Long Dash


Habitat:
Meadows, old fields, open sunny dry places with short grass.

Range/Abundance:
Common to uncommon in most of the mountains. One single record in SC.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from mid May until late September in two to three broods.

Larval Host Plants:
Grasses including Rice Cutgrass Leersia oryzoides

Comments:
Large grassy pull offs along the Blue Ridge Parkway are good locations to find this small skipper.
