Wingspan is 7/8 - 1 1/4 inches.

Similar Species:

Hayhurst's Scallopwing

Habitat:
Disturbed soils, pastures, roadsides, gardens, vacant lots and wet soil. About anywhere you would find Lambsquarters.

Range/Abundance:
Uncommon to common, it might be overlooked at some sites.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from early April until late September in three broods with gaps between broods.

Larval Host Plants:
Lambsquarters Chenopodium album

Comments:
This tiny skipper flies close to the ground most of the time. It usually lands and perches with its wings halfway open.

The white spots on the top of the head make it easy to identify in the field.
