Similar Species:

Common Sootywing

Habitat:
Disturbed areas including roads, trails, vacant weedy lots, suburban gardens and moist edges of woods and bottomlands.

Range/Abundance:
Rare to uncommon in most of the region. Very rare in the mountains.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from late April until early September in two to three broods with gaps between broods.

Larval Host Plants:
Lambsquarters Chenopodium album

Comments:
This skipper is so tiny it’s likely to be overlooked. The scarcity of this skipper seems unusual because its host plant is very abundant.
