Similar Species:

Horace's Duskywing

Range/Abundance:
Common and widespread in the entire region during spring. Uncommon to rare near the coast.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from early March until late May in the piedmont and sandhills and on into mid June in the mountains in a single brood.

Larval Host Plants:
Oaks Quercus spp.

Comments:
This is the most common and widespread duskywing during the early spring in the region.

Very difficult to tell from Horace's Duskywing in the spring. Horace's Duskywing does have a slight spring brood and two other summer broods where the confusion between these species is no longer a problem in summer when Juvenal's Duskywing is not flying.
