Size:
Wingspan is 1 1/2 - 1 7/8 inches.

Similar Species:

Harvester
American Copper

Habitat:
Wet meadows or fields near ponds, rivers or streams.

Range/Abundance:
Rare northern species found in only a few counties in WV and perhaps VA. Not recorded in NC or SC.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from May until early October in two to three with gaps between broods.

Larval Host Plants:
Water Dock Rumex verticillatus and Curly Dock Rumex crispus.

Comments:
A very large copper species, the size alone makes identification easy. A good place to look for Bronze Copper is the Green Bottoms Wildlife Management Area in Cabell Co., WV.
