Similar Species:

Yucca Giant-Skipper

Habitat:
Coastal dunes, pinewoods and open areas with yuccas.

Range/Abundance:
Very rare if not entirely absent in the region.

Flight Period:
Adults fly in a single brood from July until early September.

Larval Host Plants:
Bear Grass Yucca filamentosa, Spanish bayonet Y. aloifolia, and Small's Yucca Y. smalliana

Comments:
Several people have tried to find this species in the Carolinas in recent years and have failed to find it. Cofaqui Giant-Skipper is likely now a historical species in the region.
