Size:
Wingspan is 1 1/4 - 1 7/8 inches.

Similar Species:

Pearl Crescent

Habitat:
Moist open areas along the edges of forest and streams. This is a common species in Canada.

Range/Abundance:
Very very rare in the mountains and very difficult to tell from the Pearl Crescent.

Flight Period:
Adults fly from mid June until late July in a single brood.

Larval Host Plants:
Asters Asteraceae

Comments:
The difficulty of telling this species apart from the abundant Pearl Crescent requires a level of expertise that most researchers would not be qualified to identify in the field by sight alone.

Finding this rare species in the region would require being in the right location at the right time of year.
