Size:
Wingspan is 2 - 2 3/4 inches.

Similar Species:

None.

Habitat:
Lawns and weedy areas near the coast in the region.

Range/Abundance:
Stray or accidental in the region.

Flight Period:
Adults fly year round in the deep south, expected in late summer along coastal SC and NC.

Larval Host Plants:
Water Hyssop Bacopa monniera, Ruellia Ruellia occidentalis
, and Fogfruit Lippia lanceolata.

Comments:
White Peacocks are not found for several years at a time in the Carolinas. Don't expect to see one without conducting a concentrated search. Locations where it has been found are Charleston, SC, Fort Fisher, NC and Buxton, NC.

Their behavior is very similar to the Common Buckeye which usually flies close to the ground.
